Family Crafty Time Part 3

Somehow I didnt get pictures of anyones bottles but my own.
I need to add something to the top area...tie something around the neck of the bottle and maybe add some bells, an owl, or something.

Using Cricut Craftroom. There are so many cool Christmas images it was hard to pick what we we wanted to cut out of vinyl.

My sister Allison wanted me to cut out a bunch of vinyl for her so I let her use the new Cricut Basic Toolset to get her vinyl off my mat. She tried out the spatula tool which prevents curling and tearing.

and the tweezer tool with the reverse grip. They take a little getting used to but I like them!

You can order this tool set from Cricut or I have also seen it at Michael's. It comes with:

Cricut® Tools Scissors with protective blade cover
Cricut® Tools Tweezers
Cricut® Tools Scraper
Cricut® Tools Spatula
Cricut® Tools Weeder
Four interchangeable end caps

What fun project have you used your Cricut for lately?

Crafty Family Time Part 2

My mom completely surprised me by contributing a craft for us to do. I should mention that is was my mom, Allison and I and my sister in law McKayla doing these projects. Sadly Laura stayed in Utah because she was not feeling well and Julianne stayed in WA to have Thanksgiving there. My other sister in law , Tara, she and my brother went to her parents house. Arkansas is a real long way from Idaho and her parents live closer to where they live.

We were decorating Christmas ornaments.  There were lots of things to put inside the clear ones.

I put snow, cranberries and popcorn in this one

Concentrating

I love how this one turned out with glitter inside.

I used a different kind of glitter inside this ornament

Cool one my mom made. I didnt attempt to make this one. Sorta ran out of time!

Crafty Family Time Part 1

When I go to my parents house in Idaho I like to have mini Pinterest parties with my mom and whatever sisters are able to come. I call them 'mini' because pretty much everyone brings a craft. There are no Pinterest foods, decor or swag bags. Maybe someday because those parts are really fun too. Here are some random pictures of the crafting we did when I was in Idaho for Thanksgiving!

My sister Allison brought these frames

And we each got to pick one out to paint

She had lots of colors to choose from

We were not able to paint in the garage so we used the lawn instead.  It was pretty cold so the spray paint took awhile to dry.

After the frames dried my sister cut chicken wire and we used a staple gun to attach it to the frame.

These will be turned into jewelry holders. Mine is not finished yet but when it is I will post a picture here and tweet and post this link again so you can all see the finished product.

Biograss - A Local Utah Company

I love supporting companies that are local to Utah and here is one I just heard about recently called Biograss. It was founded in 1979 and is have a few locations around Utah. They sell sod, garden soil and fertilizer and seed mixtures. There are so many pros to using sod and working with Biograss.

Check out this infographic with more information!

Their website has tips for new sod care and how to take care of it. If I lived in a place with a yard that needed grass, I would love to support Biograss.

Monster Bash Craft with Cricut

Hi! Today I'm going to be showing you a couple fun things I did with the Monster Bash cartridge from Cricut on my Cricut Mini machine.

First I got in to Cricut Craft Room. If you dont have this program yet , it is free to download from the Cricut website. I picked some images that I wanted to cut and they loaded on my mat. I did not adjust the size. The circle images were 2.5"x2.5". The other images were 2.986"x2.5" up to 4.385"x2.5".

Then I loaded black vinyl on my mat and hit "cut" in the Cricut Craft Room

I picked up a couple pumpkins. They were $1.99 each and are "pumpkin pie pumpkins" so that is pretty cool! They can serve another use other than decorations.

These are the faces I used from the Monster Bash cartridge. Once the vinyl has been cut , just peel and stick. This would look cool in other colors of vinyl on other colors of pumpkins. Today I just stuck with black and orange.

There are a total of 5 faces like this to choose from

Next I used the circle images that my Cricut cut from black vinyl to decorate these cups for a Pinterest Party on Saturday. I liked the spider web and ghost the best. All of them are great though to get me in the mood for Halloween!

Let me know what you make with the Monster Bash cartridge! Leave a comment below with the link to your blog and I will come check out what you've made & leave you a comment back.
Happy crafting - hoot hoot!

Pinterest Project Time

Ever since I found out we were having a family reunion in July , I thought it'd be a great idea to do a "Pinterest Party". I asked all the girls to bring a craft that we could all do and here is one of the ones we did. My sister Allison was in charge of this one. We went to thrift stores in the Boise area and picked out white dishes. You can use cups, bowls or plates.

Then we used Sharpie markers to draw a design or write a phrase.
My sister Laura (above left) traced her little 1-year old's hand.
My sister Allison (above right) wrote a saying she liked.
You can use a damp paper towel to erase lines in case things dont go as planned.

I loved what my sister Julianne did with her dishes

These were mine. They are ice- cream bowls - the inside

And here is how I decorated the outside.

Once you are done with your designs, you bake the dishes in the oven for 30 - 40 minutes at 350*. Make sure the ink in your designs is completely dry before putting your project in the oven. If the ink still smudges after you take the dishes out, try baking for a little longer. That's what we did and it seemed to work just fine.

My sister Allison made this & we all signed it and she gave it to my parents.
Pretty cool gift I thought!

This was a fun project to do and didn't take a lot of time & wasn't complicated.
(unless you are a perfectionist. tehe)
